Today is Thursday which is the day I focus on giving you a few tips in regards to the publishing world, marketing, authors etc.   With that in mind, I wanted to share with you one of the best resources that I receive in my inbox when it comes to publishing.

I would say that Dan Poynter produces one of the most informative and fun e-letters that I receive. I absolutely LOVE it... almost as much as I love my Answers in Genesis magazine Answers. (Which I highly recommend you get today.)

I can't remember when I first heard about Dan Poynter and his Para Publishing website and company, but I can tell you that I never delete his email, and I always read it.  Even more so, I want YOU to read it.  But first here's a little more about Dan...

Who is Dan Poynter?

Dan is described as a man who "fell into publishing" because he realized that no publisher would be interested in publishing his book on parachutes.  So, he went ahead and published it himself. (Thus, the clever name ParaPublishing..)

Since Dan published a book that was a hit, he decided to keep publishing different books and as a result, now has over 76 books published.

Para Publishing was born!

You can learn more about Dan Poynter and Para Publishing by simply visiting his website.  As I said before, it's packed with great information and his e-letter is something that you will not want to miss.

Publishing Poynters: Book and Information Marketing, News and Ideas from Dan Poynter

The above title is actually Dan's official title of the email you can sign up for at his website.  The reason I love his material is because it's packed with very helpful information and it's not the typical marketing email or product which is all about pitching you something to buy.  People want information and Dan understands this wonderfully.

Inside each issue of Publishing Poynters you'll receive information about what is happening at Para Publishing (which is to be expected) but not only that you'll get the following:

- ParaTips - guidance and advice on specific issues

- ParaResources - Sources of helpful information

- ParaThoughts - editorial

- ParaFreebies - focus is on giveaways

- ParaCalendar - events where Dan is speaking

- ParaHumor - who doesn't need a laugh?

Also within the Publishing Poynters, Dan includes very nice graphics, cool quotes from influential people and more.

In the most recent edition of Publishing Poynters there is a wonderful quote from Andy Rooney which says, Overheard: "I've learned... That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss."

With that said, may I suggest you click here to read Dan's most recent edition of his Poynters and then go to his website and sign up to get it yourself.  While you're at his site you'll also want to look through it and see the other free information he offers.
